Nestled between downtown, Central Expressway, and Interstate 35, the prestigious area of Dallas has become the heart of Dallas culture, and McKinney Avenue, constantly pumping life and opportunity into the rapidly evolving neighborhood, is the main artery. With historic trolley cars up to 99 years of age running up and down McKinney free-of-charge, every nook of Uptown is easy to get to. From the West Village to The Mansion to 2000 McKinney, Uptown Dallas offers the finest in retail, restaurants, and office space, and the development of 2000 McKinney certainly ensures the importance the Uptown area will have on Dallas business for decades to come.

Retail & Restaurant

Whatever craving you have, whether it be sea bass with a side of Jazz music or D Magazine’s best burger in Dallas at the Uptown Bar & Grill, it’s a hop, skip and a jump away from 2000 McKinney. With well over 100 restaurants in the area, Uptown encompasses all foods from every corner of the globe. Among the numerous famed restaurants are The Mansion, Capital Grille, Il Mulino, Nobu, S&D Oyster Bar and Pescabar. Built in 2001, the West Village provides the area with forty of the finest retail shop in Dallas, such as Ann Taylor and Polo. Also in the Uptown district is the award-winning retail store Stanley Korshak.

Lodging

Expecting visitors or clients from out of town? The Uptown District boasts some of the finest hotels in the United States. The recently opened Hotel ZaZa was declared by Forbes Magazine to be one of the top 10 business hotels in the world, and Hotel Crescent Court is another perennial award winner and home to an acclaimed restaurant. Boasting former guests such as Queen Elizabeth II, The Mansion on Turtle Creek is long considered to be one of the best hotels in the country. Eagerly awaiting their membership in this elite group is the Ritz-Carlton, whose 216-room hotel will be the first Ritz-Carlton hotel in Texas. Uptown is also exploding with residential complexes, from the Residences at the Ritz-Carlton to W Dallas Victory Residences. Over 2,000 residential units have been proposed in the Uptown area, and several projects have already broken ground, indicating optimism across the board in Uptown’s potential.

Entertainment

If shopping is not what sparks your interest, the American Airlines Center hosts the Dallas Mavericks, the Dallas Stars, and various musical artists throughout the year. The Dallas Theater Center has called Uptown home for 40 years while the Magnolia Theater on McKinney was named the “Best Theater in Dallas” by the Dallas Observer and D Magazine. Just south of Uptown is Dallas’ Arts District, made famous by attractions like the Dallas Museum of Art, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, and the Nasher Sculpture Center.

The Dallas Center for the Performing Arts Foundation was established in order to make the Arts District “a world-class center to serve as a permanent home to the performing arts”. Adding to the Arts District the Winspear Opera House, a City Performance Hall, and the Wyly Theatre, the Foundation is well on its way to achieving the $275 million fundraising goal. A park covering Woodall Rodgers Freeway will connect 2000 McKinney and the rest of Uptown with these visually stunning Arts District features in 2010.
